A clean catalog helps technicians make fast, safe choices. Use this guide to maintain brands, models, and compatibility.

Brands#

  • Use clear, canonical brand names.
  • Add a short internal description to guide selection.
  • Provide a support contact if the brand has special handling.

Models#

  • Include helpful display names and searchable keywords.
  • Add documentation URLs that technicians can access from asset profiles.
  • Record support notes such as common failure modes or repair tips.

Compatibility#

  • Associate parts with models that are safe to use together.
  • Mark deprecated items so technicians avoid obsolete parts.
  • Review incompatible combinations flagged by returns or failures.

Data Quality#

  • Merge duplicates and standardise naming for consistent search.
  • Archive retired models; keep history for reference.
  • Use SKU barcodes to eliminate manual entry errors.

Keeping the catalog current shortens diagnostics and reduces the chance of rework.
