Technician Admin Onboarding Checklist

A step-by-step list to prepare your workspace, users, catalog, and POS for launch.

Work through these steps before inviting your full team. Each item links to a relevant guide.

1. Workspace Setup#

  • Confirm branding, locations, and business hours.
  • Set default tax and rounding rules.
  • Enter support email/phone for customer communications.

2. Users and Roles#

  • Invite initial Technician Admins and Technicians.
  • Verify sign-in, role, and profile details.
  • Document offboarding steps; assign ownership transfer policy.

3. Catalog and Models#

  • Add core brands and models you service.
  • Link documentation URLs and support notes per model.
  • Map compatible parts and mark deprecated items.

4. POS and Payments#

  • Pair terminals and printers; run sandbox transactions.
  • Configure tenders and tax codes; test receipts.
  • Write refund/exchange SOP; require notes for exceptions.

5. Dispatch and Status Flow#

  • Adopt the standard status flow and SLAs.
  • Create the morning stand-up routine.
  • Define escalation thresholds (e.g., 3 days in one status).

6. Asset and Parts Intake#

  • Decide on asset code formats and barcode usage.
  • Configure parts re-order points and locations.
  • Trial a full loop: request → order → receive → install → reconcile.
